Wells Fargo Supports Early Literacy Education at Northside
Children at Northside Child Development Center soon will have much-needed tools for academic success, thanks to a grant from Wells Fargo’s Community Funding Council. The council awarded the grant to expand Northside’s Early Literacy Program with a new literacy corner and library. Specialized tools, books, puppets and other resources will provide a solid educational foundation for children preparing for kindergarten.
Northside serves low-income families by providing a quality Early Childhood Development program that improves children’s functioning and overall development. The center was one of several local organizations that received Wells Fargo’s support for its kindergarten readiness program.
“We hope our contributions have a positive, long-term impact on our communities by improving kindergarten readiness and providing children with an education head start,” said Myrtle Chandler, 2007 Wells Fargo Community Funding Council co-chair.
