School-based Counseling
Many families in urban neighborhoods continue to face the challenges of poverty and discrimination. Catholic Charities’ School-based Counseling program partners with seven select inner-city schools to provide a “safety net” for students and their families.
Licensed clinical social workers trained to provide mental health and social services serve children at these sites as a natural part of their school experience. Students can access counseling by themselves or be referred by a teacher, parent or friend.
These children face complex and often dangerous circumstances, grief and loss, family with mental illness or chemical dependency, family violence and gang pressures. With our help, they are not alone.
