Administrative Service Volunteer Opportunities

Administrative Volunteer

  • Volunteer to assist with special administrative projects. Maintain databases, assist with mailings, phones and filings.
    Available at multiple sites throughout Twin Cities

Front Desk Worker

  • Volunteer to answer telephones, greet clients, create files for new residents and make rounds at a residential shelter.
  • Volunteer to greet guests, process incoming phone calls and assist residents. Family Service Center, Maplewood
  • Volunteer to greet guests, answer phones and direct visitors from the front desk to offices and meeting spaces. Catholic Charities Administrative Center, Minneapolis

 

Children and Youth Service Volunteer Opportunities

Activities Programmer/Teacher

  • Volunteer to help coordinate activities, serve as a field trip aide, facilitate group mentoring or read stories to children.
    Family Service Center, Maplewood

Child Care Volunteer

  • Volunteer to assist teachers with classroom activities for infants and children up to 12 years old by working in groups or one-on-one. Northside Child Development Center, Minneapolis (Northside is open Monday through Friday (daytime only opportunities)
  • Help serve in a child care facility for infants and children (sensitivity to diverse economic and racial and cultural
    backgrounds appreciated). St. Paul
  • Volunteer to provide a safe and nurturing learning environment for children when their parents attend group sessions.

Special Event Assistant

  • Volunteer to host a gathering or party to offer support for guests who are working toward greater stability. Minneapolis

Social Event Coordinator

  • Develop engaging activities for low-income male and female residents (arts and crafts, bingo, exercise or movie programs,

  • Develop activities to engage residents who are in the late stages of chronic alcoholism (arts and crafts, exercise or movie programs, etc.). Glenwood Residence, Minneapolis

Performer (Singer/Dancer)

  • Communities benefit from the joy brought by artistic expression. Showcase your talents as a singer, dancer or poet and
    extend the benefit of your talent to our clients. Adult or children's performance opportunities exist at many Catholic

Housing & Emergency Services Volunteer Opportunities

Employment Services Assistant

  • Assist clients in the computer resource lab with their job searches, including finding job leads, sending resumes and
    preparing for interviews. Dorothy Day Center, St. Paul and Family Service Center, Maplewood

Maintenance Assistant

  • Help with general maintenance year-round with a flexible schedule. Spring: Clean up grounds after winter. Summer: Cut
    grass, tend to gardens and clean grounds. Fall: Rake leaves and cut grass. Winter: Shovel walkways after snow.
    Family Service Center, Maplewood.

Shelter Support Assistant

  • Provide assistance to clients, staff and visitors to the Family Service Center in a variety of ways: work with clients
    one-on-one, assist case managers/advocates with a variety of duties, provide office support, help run children's activities
    and assist in the computer room. Volunteers needed weekdays and weekends. Family Service Center, Maplewood

Tutor

  • Prepare lessons, tutor, administer progress tests and evaluate the progress of non-English speaking individuals learning

Meal Service Volunteer Opportunities

Meal Provider

  • Aid in the up-keep and operation of the kitchen and dining area during meal times. Breakfast 8:15 – 9:30 a.m.,
    Lunch 11:15 a.m. – 12:30 p.m., Dinner 4:45 p.m. – 5:30 p.m. For one or two volunteers. Exodus Residence, Minneapolis

Meal Service Support

  • Assist staff and cook/kitchen coordinator with meal preparation, serving and clean-up duties. Volunteers needed for

Drives and Donations - great for groups of all ages

  • Hold a collection or drive for clothing, toys or other children’s items
  • Hold a collection or drive for basic needs including bedding, toiletries, kitchen/cooking supplies or school supplies
  • Hold a drive to collect household supplies, children’s clothing, diapers and wipes or school supplies
  • Host a school supply drive to collect notebooks, pens, folders and other needed supplies
